Background

VALUES

  • God-Centered

Everything we do at Gracehill is centered around God and His purposes. We are not asking God to bless what we are doing. We are asking God if we can be a part of the really cool things He is doing around the world. (Ex. 20:1-6, Ps. 18; Matt. 22:37-40)

  • Relevant

We desire to gain an understanding of our culture and how to present the good news in a way that is pertinent to the times in which we live. All of our teaching, studying, serving and relational activities are opportunities to connect to God and others in ways that are applicable to our daily lives. (I Chron. 12:32; I Cor. 9:19-23)

  • Authentic Community

As followers of Christ, we yearn to grow in full devotion to Him and His cause. We believe life-change and spiritual growth occur best in the context of small groups which grow over time and multiply. (Acts 2:42-43; Heb. 5:13-14; Eph. 4:14-16)

  • Changed Lives

The life, death and resurrection of Christ have the power to change lives. At Gracehill a win for us is seeing Jesus change people, one life at a time. As lives are changed, families are changed and our city will be transformed. (John 5:24, 10:10; 2 Cor. 3:18)

  • Excellence

If we give our best for our people, how much more should we pursue excellence with God? Gracehill does not settle for less than excellence. We are not seeking perfection, but giving our best effort in serving God. We set standards that raise the bar for everyone. God expects our best, not what is left over. (Malachi 1:7,8; I Cor. 3:9-15)

  • Helping Others Discover Christ

We won’t be content until we have extended God’s love and hope to every person we can possibly reach with the saving message of Jesus Christ. The unchurched and unconnected are our highest priority. Lost people matter to God, therefore they matter to us. (Matt. 28:18-20; I Corinthians 9:19-23)

  • Intentional Serving

We believe every person is uniquely gifted by God to serve somewhere in ministry. The staff exists to help equip, empower and release all people to fulfill the ministries of the church by using their gifts. Our greatest calling is to serve those outside the walls of our church whom Jesus called “the least of these.” For this reason we share our resources—both time and treasures—in mission. (Matt. 25:31-46; Eph. 4:11-16; I Pet. 4:10-11)

  • Lending a Hand

Our ministries are designed to meet the felt needs of people. If a ministry is not meeting needs, it will cease to exist. We desire to minister to the “whole person”, including spiritual, physical, and emotional needs. “Find a need and meet it!” (Isaiah 58:11-12; Romans 12: 4-13; I John 3:16-18)

  • Leading with Biblical Truth

We believe that the Bible is our roadmap for life. The Bible is taught and memorized in a multitude of settings including the Sunday Morning Experience, Connection Groups, Bible studies, and is demonstrated through our lives. (Deut. 6:4-9; 2 Tim. 3:16- 4:5)

WHAT WE BELIEVE

  • 1. The Bible is...

    • the divine revelation of God to mankind
    • our fixed source of authority for faith and conduct
    • without error and endurable for all generations and cultures
    (2 Timothy 3:15-17, 1 Thessalonians 2:13, 2 Peter 1:21, Psalm 119:160)

  • 2. God is...

    • eternal, having always existed outside of time and space
    • a single Being consisting of three Persons – Father, Son, & Holy Spirit
    (Genesis, 1:1,26-27, Psalm 90:2, Matthew 28:19, Luke 3:22)

  • 3. Jesus is...

    • eternal Son of God
    • conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin
    • one who ultimately restores mankind from sin
    • raised from the dead and seated with the Heavenly Father
    (Revelation 1:8, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:31, 35, Hebrews 7:26, 1 Peter 2:22, Acts 2:22, 1 Corinthians 15:3, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Isaiah 53:4-5, Matthew 8:16-17, James 5:14-16, Matthew 28:6, Luke 24:39, 1 Corinthians 6:14, 15:4, Acts 1:9, 11, 2:33, Philippians 2:9-11, Hebrews 1:3)

  • 4. The Holy Spirit is...

    • available to make people aware of their need of Jesus
    • available to empower the believer to live the Christian life more victoriously

  • 5. Mankind is...

    • made in the spiritual image of God
    • fallen from innocence due to a willful choice to do wrong
    • destined for eternal separation from God
    • provided an opportunity to be reconciled to God through Christ
    • invited to accept Christ, repent of sin, and get a fresh start
    (Genesis 1:26-30, 3:8-9, Genesis 3:6-24, Romans 3:23, 5:12-19, Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 3:3, 16, Acts 20:21, Romans 5:1, 1 John 1:9, Titus 2:11-13, 3:5-6, Romans 8:38-39, John 10:29, 2 Timothy 1:12, 1 Peter 1:3-5, John 15:6, 1 Peter 1:16, Hebrews 12:14, Revelation 22:19, Luke 8:13, Romans 12:1-2, 1 Thessalonians 5:23, Hebrews 13:12, 1 Peter 1:16, Romans 6:1-11, Galatians 2:20, Philippians 2:12-13)

  • 6. The Church is...

    • the body of Christ that consists of all Christians on a three-fold mission of worship, discipleship, and evangelism.
    • respectful of two ordinances – water baptism and The Lord’s Table (Holy Communion)
    (Ephesians 4:16, Galatians 3:28-29, 1 Peter 2:9, 1 Corinthians 12:13, Matthew 22:37-38, Ephesians 4:11-11-13, Matthew 28:19-20, Matthew 28:19, Acts 10:47-48, Romans 6:4, 1 Corinthians 11:26, 2 Peter 1:4)

  • 7. The Future is...

    • hopeful for those ready for the imminent return of Christ
    • bright for the Christian because of eternal life with God
    • subject to God’s own time and God’s own way
    (1 Corinthians 15:51-52, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Revelation 22:12-13, Romans 8:23, Titus 2:13, 2 Peter 3:13, John 14:2-3, Revelation 21:1-7, 22:5, Mark 9:43-48, Revelation 20:11-15, Matthew 25:46)

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible, authoritative Word of God. Therefore, our ministry emphasizes the exposition of God’s Word from Genesis to Revelation, line upon line, precept upon precept.

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of Christ, in His Virgin Birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful humanity, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential, and that repentance from sin and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is the only way to come into a relationship with God.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life; we further believe His power and gifts are available to believers today.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they who are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

We believe it is important to uphold the scriptural practices of the early church. Therefore, we hold to the practice of water baptism and the regular taking of Communion. We do not believe that either of these practices is essential for salvation, but that they serve as a demonstration of our living faith in Christ.
